Welcome to Lima! Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel in the beautiful area of Miraflores. If time permits, venture out and begin to explore Perus amazing culture.
Rise for breakfast and a morning guided tour of colonial and modern Lima. After lunch, we will experience the Inca’s legacy at the Larco Museum. Lastly, we will visit a classic Peruvian Tavern for a glass of Pisco Sour and traditional Peruvian petite bouchées. (B)
Welcome upon arrival Cuzco (11,152 ft) and transfer to your hotel. During the afternoon we will enjoy a guided tour of Cuzco with its ancient cathedrals and amazingly crafted Inca walls. We will also visit the ruins at Kenko, Tambomachay, Puka Pukara, Saqsaywaman. (B)
Today we will explore the Sacred Valley (9,350 ft) and experience the rich colors of its traditional towns and ruins. Our first stop after a scenic drive will be Pisacs colorful market a great opportunity to practice your bargaining skills! After lunch we will tour the town of Ollantaytambo and visit the site of the beautiful rose-colored stone ruins where the Incas fought the Spaniards. The serenity and quaintness of the town will allow you to relax and transition into the Incas magical world. (BL)
Early morning transfer to board the train to Machu Picchu (7,875 ft.). This scenic trip offers great views of the mountains, river and sometimes a glance of the awesome Condor. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes we will begin our tour of Machu Picchu. After the tour you can continue to explore the sanctuary at your own pace or return to the town of where you can enjoy a relaxing evening or shop at the local market. (B)
Free day to return to Machu Picchu or explore nearby areas such as the famous Machu Picchu mountain. You might want to wake up early and take some pictures from the Puerta del Sol at Machu Picchu. Today is also a great opportunity to climb Wayna Picchu (reservation and pass included). In the afternoon you will return by train/bus to Cuzco. Transfer to your hotel upon arrival in Cuzco. (B)
Enjoy an early morning walk in Cuzco before your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival we will stop at the Lodge's office in Puerto Maldonado where you can store any excess luggage. We will arrive at the lodge after a 20 minute drive and a 45 minute boat ride which offers beautiful views of exotic plants, birds and caimans. At the lodge you can enjoy great views of the Amazon from the Canopy tower. After dinner we will participate in an ecotourism lecture by a professional guide. (BLD)
After breakfast you can choose from several guided tours such as the "Tres Chibadas Oxbow Lake". Once at the Lake we will paddle around the lake in a catamaran searching for Giant River otters, caimans, hoatzins and horned screamers. You can also choose to observe dozens of parrots and parakeets licking clay by the river. During the afternoon you can take an ethnobotanical tour that will expose you to botanical and medicinal wonders. After dinner you will have the option of hiking out at night, when most of the mammals are active. (BLD)
